The Baker County Fair begins the first weekend in October, Tuesday through Saturday from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m.. An old time country fair, nestled at the end of a quiet road where the whole family can enjoy livestock and agricultural exhibits, numerous attractions, food booths on the midway, a local beauty pageant, and a rodeo. Open Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.. This unique, century-old General Store / Post Office is now home to a charming antique and gift shop. Shoppers will enjoy browsing through relics of the past and handcrafted items or just playing checkers on the front porch, watching the trains go by. College Street, Macclenny, Florida. Open Monday, Friday, and Saturday 10:30am until 3pm., Tuesday and Thursday 10:30am until 6pm. Open since 1995, browsers will delight in the Glass Menagerie's shelves full of Depression glass, fine china, curios, and collectibles. 110 South Fifth Street, Macclenny, Florida. Open Monday through Friday 9am until 5pm. In December, Saturday 10am until 4pm. A totally "charming" gift shop offering antiques, collectibles, gifts, and bridal registry. Located on E. Macclenny Avenue in Macclenny, Florida. A restored "cracker" style house, this shop features handmade furniture and gifts. Also offered are candles, quilts, antiques, and other collectibles. On O. C. Horne Road. Opens Friday after Thanksgiving from 8am until 6pm. Begin a heartwarming tradition by choosing and cutting the Christmas tree. Pack a picnic, bring the camera and spend the day. Rudolph's offers hot cider, hot chocolate, hot coffee, or cold drinks. Hayrides are also availbale on weekends. 8493 S. Highway 121. Open Monday through Saturday 9am until 6pm. Christmas trees, decorations, antiques, collectibles, and gifts for all occasions. A fully stocked nursery of trees, palms, plants, and yard materials. Glen St. Mary, Florida. Started in 1882 by George Lindley Taber, the Glen St. Mary Nurseries are located just south of the town named for the nurseries. The grand homes and large old trees on the nurseries make you feel like you have stepped back in time. Linwood, the stately family home of the Taber's for three generations, is easily the finest jewel in the crown of the nurseries property. This nusery was one of the most important and famous in the south with many plant and fruit tree introductions still popular today. Olustee, Florida. Open 6 days from 9am to 4:30pm. Closed on Tuesdays. The historic train depot is a Welcome Center with a history exhibit providing a glimpse into the life and growth of North Florida. Olustee, Florida. The park covers 192,000 acres with a 2-mile wide lake. A wonderful outdoor family adventure with everything from hunting to bird watching. The Olustee Battlefield State Historic Site is the home of the Civil War Olustee Battle re-enactment and exposition. It can be found in Olustee, Florida on US 90. The re-enactment takes place in February at the site of the largest Civil War battle fought in Florida with an exposition held in September depicting Civil War memorabilia. The Pineview Golf and Country Club is located on Lowder Street at County Road 23A and operates 7 days a week from 7am until 6pm. Pineview is an 18 hole golf course and driving range with clubhouse facilities. It is 30 minutes from Jacksonville and Lake City. Pineview hosts several annual tournaments each year. The Emily Taber Public Library is located at 14 W. McIver Avenue in Macclenny, Florida. Built in 1908 as the original Baker County Courthouse, the beautiful red brick building was designed by Edward C. Hosford in the Colonial Revival style. It served as the courthouse until 1945. In 1970 it became the Emily Taber Public Library. The Old Baker County Jail is at 42 W McIver Avenue in Macclenny, Florida. This historic site was built in 1911 with locally made bricks. Until 1973 the building was the county jail and home for the sheriff. It now houses the Baker County Historical Society. The border between Florida and Georgia is defined by the St. Marys River with its headwaters in the Okefenokee Swamp. The river flows for 130 miles to the Atlantic Ocean. The St. Marys River is popular for fishing, canoeing, and swimming.
